How a big company responds to an offer to buy there domain
Have you ever wondered how to respond to domain offers ? You are not alone. I am about to share with you an email I received yesterday evening from a multi-million dollar company. This information is still hot off the email server.
I had offered to buy if they will be willing to sell one of there intellectual properties. In this case a domain.
First you will read my letter which is nothing to brag about. I am the buyer My line of thought was that I did not want to sound overly professional. It might raise the bar too high. I had also sent this email from my private yahoo mail. Did not want to leave easy footprints (digital prints)
Well here are both emails. Mine is first and then followed by there reply. Please feel free to comment and also let me know if you like this kind of post. Please do not send me domains to buy. Seriously.

Subject: xxxxxxx.com
Please forward this email to the right person.
My name is Frankie Aladi.
I am interested in an intellectual property of xxxxxxx Corporation.
I will like to purchase the domain name “xxxxxxx.com” from xxxxxx corporation.
I noticed that this domain is no longer of any use to xxxxxx.
Thank you for your attention to my request.
Sincerely,
Frankie Aladi
Below is the reply. I have masked name, email info and phone # for privacy reasons. Sorry for the size of the text. That was how it came in the email and my site formatting made it even slightly smaller.
Dear Mr. Aladi;
Your communication regarding the xxxxxx.com domain was forwarded to my attention. We are evaluating the results of the xxxxxx beta and considering ways in which the xxxxxxx mark can be employed in different products and services in development, so we are not actively seeking a buyer for the domain at this time. Since you have contacted us, however, we might consider a sale only for a price that might appropriately compensate the company for changing its business plans and removing xxxxxxxx from the assets it plans to use. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this further.@xxxxx.com

I will suggest all my readers register for RSS updates or to be notified when there is a new post. Though I try to post at least five times a week. That does not always happen so you could very well miss a post you may have really liked to read. Most of my post only commits only 3 to 5 minutes of your time anyways.

Frankie,
You really should not post such info with the specific domain as this could compromise a medium/long term deal on this pretty nice domain.
Good luck !
Thanks D
Suggestion taken and implemented
Just a thought. Don’t you think that if you use your name (which I believe you should) they will Google, check “linkedin’ or something to find out your business. I certainly do.
Jeff,
They can but they are not also in our business so they might not. In any case why make it easy. A company email simply says find out who I am. In my own opinnion.
