New Year Begins With an Offer

Happy new year everyone.  Over the last few days of last year, I worked tirelessly trying to bring a deal to a close. It was not easy having to balance between work, school and a rather demanding customer. Over a period of two weeks we went from a decent offer (I have refused better for the same domain) to negotiating an advertising deal with the domain. This was particularly challenging because I was also writing my end of term exams at the time and this buyer turned advertiser wanted all kinds of stats. Well in the end the deal never panned out. However an ex US Marine recruiter once told me, “if they keep coming back, they want something”  This customer did come back a couple of time so I am almost certain that we will write a deal one day. It is not unlike one of my current advertisers who made me a different offer every year for 4 years before finally deciding to buy a one year advertising plan.

That was last year. How would you feel if you opened your email on the first of the year and see an enquiry letter for one of your domains. It happened to me a couple of days ago; on the 1st of  January 2010. I responded by asking the individual to make me an offer and he wrote back with an offer for $65 ! Can you beat that? Why would  you disturb someone on the first of the year with a sixty-five dollar offer?

This brings me to my new year domain resolution. I have resolved to ignore low ballers this  year. They are a waste of time. Any low ballers this year will not even get a reply from me.

As per blogging, my blogging will be sporadic at best this year but I will endeavour to post very important happenings or cases I feel strongly about. For the other stuff, I will leave to the more able bloggers.

Happy new year everyone, This year may God grant us the wisdom to buy the right domains, the courage to let dead weight expire, the perseverance to weather the roller coaster of domaining and the humility to give back to the Lord a tenth of our sale.

Amen
