My Dot US idol is re-branding to Dot Com!
This is the guy who took classified ads to a whole new level with .us domains. In most cases he ranked number one for his search term in Google or at least top 5. I discovered this guy when I toyed with the idea of developing petclassifieds.org. He owns petclassifieds.us and was number one then with a very successful classified network. Why he is now rebranding all his sites beats me. The must shocking part of it all is that he is leaving a generic.us for madeup.com. I am bringing this to light because I know Gaulard is a very intelligent fellow as I have done some research on him over the years. My question is, “is there something he knows we don’t?” Or is he tired of loosing type in traffic to the dot com which at the writing of this post was still #2 in Google to his .us

Here is a few chips for thought
1. Will Google eventually favor .us sites over .com for searches in the US for things like Classifieds and directories since it makes logical sense?
2. If the .com was a serious contender, will this .us have had a chance?
3. How do you think Google will rank all 4 sites .com, .net .org and .us if they all had compelling content and all other things equal?
While I am not a big investor of dotus domains, I believe it will have its place in future for those who capitalize on it and truly build out.

Seem that evn his .com’s forward to the .us,
possibly using both to get more traffic ?
keeping .us as the main url and using the .com to promote it, ths way he sticks, with .us but wont loose traffic to the .com as his rebranding efforts take that into account.
These are all nice sites, I too wonder about the re-branding efforts after successfully getting ranked for these .us keyword names. Maybe targeting a global audience or just want it’s unique name? Whatever the situation is, I would have picked better names but at least they have the same suffix. A ballsy move IMHO, keep us updated!
