It is a Girl; Will you dotcom your baby?
My wife and I just got blessed with a bouncing, kicking and screaming baby girl on October 20th2008. Mother and daughter are home now and doing real fine. A pleasant departure from the gloomy economy and the low and sometimes non existent PPC. Now that gets me thinking, how many of you will acquire the .com or domain of your baby’s name. In my own case I did so many months prior. Before my wife conceived, I registered two names, one for a girl and one for a boy.
Did not want to make the same mistake I made early in my domain career. I assumed that my last name was so unique that no one will register it and since it cost like 35 bucks way back then, I decided to hold on for a while. Well when the .com and .org got snatched, I hurriedly registered the .net. My not registering this name early was a grave mistake because I later found out that my name was the acronym for the biggest Latin organisation in the world. Who would have known?
Well now you know why I have not been making much blogs recently. I have been extremely busy with my daughter and taking care of my wife. I banged up this web page from the hospital room so as to share with friends and family real quick. This was her first picture. See her at http://www.Chizara.com
God bless you all and please keep us in your prayers and thanks giving.
By the way, the question is real, how many of you own your names?
I own FrankieAladi.com and aladi.net
More importantly how many of you will or has dotcomed your kids?

)
Congrats on the birth of your daughter. I have got family names, some as gifts to nieces or nephews. Makes for a different kind of gift.
Get some sleep. You will need it! All the best
Congrats on the new addition to the family, all the best.
Though my last name had been registered since before I had started collecting names, I still went ahead and registered my full name (first+last) early on in my domaining career. I did the same for my younger brother’s full name, who is turning 13 in a couple of months… I figure I’ll hold on to it for now and give it to him around the time he’s old enough to drive
There was a widely circulated article a while back talking about how some people actually take the dot com availability into account when brainstorming names for their children! I guess the world is slowly catching on…
Best of luck in your domaining adventures.
Congrats!
Chizara – beautiful name.
Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!
These are great news – Congrats!
First of all Congratulations and
a warm welcome to Chizara to this world.
and you’ve been a great daddy by registering her name as a dot com. She’ll be ever so grateful when she grows up.
two months ago, I tried to convince a friend of mine to get a domain for his twins. He did not get it then. didn’t see the use. Then I got the name for him and see for yourself, two months later what we’ve got on ‘ Chloe and Judith.com ‘ .
That friend gets it now
he wants to register more domains.
I couldn’t get my first name as a .com but did get my first + last name .com .
I did get my first name only as a .me though
ritesh.me
I was lucky to secure my sister’s first name as a .com .
She still doesn’t understand how rare it is to have one’s first name alone as a .com but eventually she will .
She now wants a blog there.
all the best Frankie.
Congrats Frankie!
