How to Buy…. Anything

While I cannot claim credit for the heading of this post. It always amazes me when mainstream media makes any sort of reference to the domain industry. If you haven’t read this story yet then it is new to you. I subscribe to BestLife, a mainstream magazine I consider somewhat acceptable to my taste. Anyway in the current issue of this mag, they have an article on how to buy anything from a race horse to a vintage car and to also include, a tux, a dog and even your kid’s love– That is not a typo, your kid’s love and it goes without saying that how to buy “her” love is also part of the things you can apparently buy. However the focal point of this post is that part of the things that made the list is ”how to buy a web site”
First and foremost each time the word domain or website is mentioned in mainstream media, I get excited because it creates awareness and brings more people into the market. However of all the companies that was mentioned on how to buy a website, I could only identify one. The rest I have never heard off.
This is the advice from best life on how to buy a web site. (my comments are in italics)
First, come up with a domain name that is easy to remember and spell (You got that right). Next, find out if the name is available. Instantdomainsearch.com is a great site for this, because it shows name availability as you type. (Wonderfull, what happened to all the other sites domainer frequently use ?) Once you have found an available domain name, register it through a registrar company such as GoDaddy.com (They went on to advice not to spring for extras except privacy protection)Once the site is yours, host it through a server like Doreo.com or Midphase.com. These web-hosting companies take care of technical difficulties for as little as $7 a month (Who are these people?)Finally add content. Installing a free content -management system such a WordPress……
