How I increased offers by 100% plus

There is nothing spectacular about this post. There is no big secret to unleash. I am just going to tell you what I did recently that increased the number of offers I got for my domains even in these though times.

Before I start I must give you some background info. I park most of my domains at Fabulous. Fabulous has this feature that allows you to display on your parked pages “This domain is for sale” It even has settings where you can automatically reject a certain percentage of an offer and etc.

About a year ago I received so much offers from Fabulous parked pages that I turned this feature off globally. This was because most of the offers were usually really low. The most I ever got was for $500 for a domain I would like to sell for $2500 at the least.  I got an average of about 2 to 3 offers a week and being that my portfolio has always been less than 500 domains strong, that was pretty much. I got tired of replying to all the 100 dollar offers and that is why I turned this feature off.

Well recently, offers from Sedo has not really been forthcoming. These days when one is trimming his domains, It pays to know which domains someone else other than yourself has interest in. This is why some names end up in drops and sell for 500 bucks and more. I turned the for sale feature back on in fab and I received over 3 offers the first week. The lowest so far was for $20 (now you see why I turned it off in the first time) and the highest offer is for $1000 for a domain I have refused $5000 for.

Anyway so I went from no offers to some offers by a single click of the mouse. If you park in Fab this is a feature you may consider utilizing.  You never  know.

  • Yes, those $100 lowball offers on .COM domains are annoying but at least you gauge some interest in the domain by not setting minimums too high. A few months ago I negotiated a $250 first offer up to a $900 sale so you never know.

Fabulous also has a great feature that lets you see how many whois querys has been made on your domain in the last 31 days.

Gives you a bit more to chew over when deciding to renew or drop.

I only wish I could redirect that sales banner to a specific page like you can on Active Audience. That way I could park there but have sales directed to Sedo or a custom page.

They will let you point *all* sales traffic to one page but not on an individual basis. Oh well, would be nice.

To cut out the lowball offers I usually set a (low) reserve and that keeps it under control w/o giving up a possible lead that just wants to start low. (I have had real sales from offers that started at $100 but eventually remembered what a comma is.)
