How Do You Relax?

Did you say “relax” ? yes I did. How do you relax? how do you wind down? do you pride yourself at being a 24/7 domainer? Due to the nature of our business, domaining is fun for a lot of us but not withstanding, it is still work. Though a saying goes that if you find a job  you like then you never have to work again. A lot of Brain neurons go into the research and registration of a domain name. Don’t get me started on buying a domain from the secondary market; usually more is at stake, more mental energy is expended. Managing a portfolio of any size is not child’s play you constantly have to weigh the environment, should I park ?, should I develop and which? and with whom do I park? just to mention a few of the rudimentary decision you have to make.

Long story short,  you need to rest sometimes. You need to give your batteries a 24hr hour period to recharge every seventh day.  This directive is straight from the manufacturer “You shall work six days, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during plowing time and harvest you shall rest.”  Exodus 34:21(New American Standard Bible)

Even God had to rest.

”By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.” Genesis 2:2

Note that the Bible never said that God was tired, but God still needed to rest. Creation like domaining is a creative and mental process with little or  no physical activity. God spoke the Heavens and Earth into being. With a few click of the mouse, you can create a brand new domain name. If God rested, so should you. Manage your domains for six days but on the seventh day, you should observe a period of rest. You know this is also a commandment which means it is not really optional it is the fourth commandment “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”There is something pretty cool about this commandment though, it comes with benefits. Rest has been scientifically proven to put you at your best. Check the domain industry, more senseless names are registered during periods of fatigue than when one is alert. Resting will also give you the time and opportunity to reflect on your Creator, family, and surroundings .

Resting is not planning on the seventh day what you will do the next day. Resting is putting everything called work to a stop. For a domainer, that will mean unplugging yourself from your computer, your Blackberry email. All emails can wait till the next day. For domain moonlighters who do most of their work on weekends, you just have to find a way to fit them all in the other six days.

Try Rest, Reflect on why you are here (not this website, Earth) and who knows, this might just be the beginning of the best part of your domaining career.

Please I will like to know your views and how  you relax. To respond click on the heading of this post and it will take you to a fresh page. Go to the end of the post in the new page and you can respond to the post then,
