A Time Like This….
This is probably one of the great times of opportunity in our generation. A great time to be young, a great time to be a domainer and a fabulous time to have cash in hand. If you have some cash that is not committed to any emergencies, then you may be able to rewrite your economic history in a couple of years. The .com bubble of the 90′s left a lot of people broke but it also catapulted some people beyond there wildest expectations.
We are at that crossroad again. Let’s say for the purpose of this discussion, you invest 10K in the coming weeks in one or two well researched names. These names or name will be able to fetch you approximately 50K each in the next five years. 5 years from now, domains will be bigger, the recession might be as gone as disco. The best part of it all is that you would have bought real low catalysed by the current economic climate and sell at sunnier times coupled with the increased value of a name then 5 years older.
Opportunities are there for everyone. The big boys will sell some of there lesser premium names to the mid rangers in order to consolidate and buy even better names or real estate or even banks. the mid-rangers will sell most of there premium names, to buy the names from the big boys and so it trickles down the chain.
Also in this times, some lucky domainer will hand-reg the catch phrase of tomorrow and his is another story. (Here is to hoping MaxedOutMoms.com makes the cut)
America will survive, she always does.
Things will be good again, it always does. Remember we are the country in who’s currency is minted ” In God we Trust” All we have to do now is pray it, and believe it.

I like your optimism Frankie and I share it. I was not going to write on any of the blogs these last two weeks because I can not change a lot of the pessimistic minds that are writing about “doom and gloom”. You seem to rise above it.
I have been speaking at many of the domain conferences over the last two years regarding a dramatic power shift that would be unfolding. Whereas the entrenched corporate homogeny would be pushed to their senses to either make that jump to the web (en mass) or suffer and parish a slow meltdown. Something unparalleled needed to happen to achieve that movement. I believe we are now seeing the emergence of this power shift amongst the public and business alike. This will bode well for good domain name owners and developers now and in the future. Those that have started from the ground up understand where our future lies. The rough times we are now facing as a nation are the result of massive waste and inefficiency. Our web businesses take very little to keep afloat and weather economic storms like we are now seeing. I can’t think of a better industry to be in.
Gold may be doing well in the market but I feel domain names are a better bet. Mark Powell purchased CountryClubs.com for $85k last week. What a great deal and what great opportunities are available for those that have liquidity. Stay positive and believe in the fantastic!
Agree. Buy low sell high and keep expenses down.
That is domains right now.
I totally agree Frankie. Now is a great time to pickup premium and prime names at a lower cost.
